The company is looking for the first converted ship to promote containerized power batteries

Release time:2024-09-05click:1
Fleetzero, which is committed to purely electric-driven maritime solutions, has just received $15.5 million in new funding. The company hopes to replace traditional diesel engines or generators, and the huge battery in the shape of a container will allow it to be reloaded like ordinary cargo on popular port routes. Fleetzero is currently looking for its first vessel for conversion and company co-founders Steven Henderson and Mike Carter both have backgrounds in shipping and shipbuilding.
When it first started, Fleetzero’s marine energy solution could provide power for ships within 700 feet (213 meters).
However, before it can be put into actual use, the company must get through all upstream and downstream partners, not just container transportation.
It is reported that Fleetzero is in discussions with some large companies to try to use this technology on oil and gas transportation and research vessels, thereby saving millions of dollars in experimental evaluation costs.
While the conversion may take weeks, the good news is that no dry dock is required—just swap out the boat’s engine and plug in the batteries.
